As a child, she could be found most often curled up reading a good book, the longer the better. Debi Kennedy always knew she had a book inside of her waiting to materialize.

After completing a master's in clinical psychology, Debi worked as a counselor with children in the foster care system. She then went on to finish 2 years of a doctorate program before retiring to pursue motherly endeavors.

A daughter, Elisabeth Rose, was born in January of 2000. In October 2001 Elisabeth was diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Because Elisabeth loves books even more than her mother, The Angry Monster Book was created to help deal with the rage Elisabeth was experiencing after numerous medical interventions. Emma Ocean (as in EmOtion) is fashioned after Elisabeth.

Writing children's books allows Debi to combine her psychological training with her love of books along with mothering experiences. She describes these books as flowing from a greater source through her. "I have gained much in terms of healing, insight, and education from the creation of The Angry Monster Book. My greatest hope is that others will feel inspired and healed by my books."

Debi is currently working on a children's book about fear as well as caring for her newborn son, Benjamin and his sister. The Kennedy clan resides merrily in Madison, Wisconsin.

Debi's numerous job titles include mother, home educator, family manager, laundress, writer, artist, reader, chef, comforter, wife, healer, singer, dancer, shopper, and biker.
